Jared Gordon has been on the wrong end of some razor-close decisions lately so he just took the judges out of the equation by delivering a brutal first round knockout at UFC Vegas 106.

After some early ground work against Thiago Moises, the veteran New Yorker launched a perfectly timed right hand that blasted the Brazilian and sent him crashing to the canvas. A split second later, Gordon dropped another couple of bombs from above that completely separated Moises from consciousness as the referee rushed in to stop the fight.

The end came at just 3:37 in the opening round.

“I was a little hesitant because I thought he would shoot for the takedown right away,” Gordon said after his win. “I knew my boxing was better. I caught him coming him and got the knockout.”

Despite facing a world-class grappler, Gordon showed no fear taking the fight to the ground in the early going, although Moises caught him with a shot that opened a gash right in the middle of his forehead.

Thankfully there wasn’t much blood flowing from the open wound as Gordon continued his ground assault until Moises managed to work his way back to the feet. That plan backfired almost immediately with Gordon launching the right hand that twisted Moises’ head around and sent him back down to the ground again.

There was no getting up because Gordon followed up with a few more brutal punches that put Moises to sleep with the referee rescuing him from further harm.

In his mind, Gordon believes he should be on a much longer winning streak but instead he dropped decisions to Paddy Pimblett and Nasrat Haqparast in recent fights. This time around there was no scorecard needed with Gordon adding a vicious knockout to his resume after finishing Moises on Saturday from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
