This is the UFC 315 live blog for Valentina Shevchenko vs. Manon Fiorot, the flyweight championship co-main event Saturday at Bell Centre in Montreal.
Shevchenko (23-4-1) is currently No. 2 on MMA Fighting’s Pound-for-Pound list. Fiorot (12-1) is No. 3 at flyweight and No. 5 P4P.
“Bullet” is in her second reign as 125-pound champion after taking the title back from rival Alexa Grasso in their trilogy bout at UFC 306. Grasso upset Shevchenko at UFC 285 then escaped with a controversial split draw in their rematch, but Shevchenko left no doubt she’s still the best in her division after outwrestling Grasso and winning a dominant decision to settle their feud. The Grasso defeat was Shevchenko’s lone loss since 2018.
Fiorot didn’t just wait patiently as Shevchenko and Grasso fought it out, instead defending her spot against hungry contenders. She stifled Rose Namajuna’s hopes of becoming a two-division champion with a unanimous decision win in Paris, then defused the highly touted Erin Blanchfield in the UFC Atlantic City main event this past March. Fiorot has won 12 straight fights since her pro debut and finally gets her chance to prove she’s the best flyweight in the world.
