Jose Peñuela, Bellator
Patchy Mix is finally a UFC fighter.
The former Bellator bantamweight champion, who was almost universally recognized as the top 135-pound fighter outside the promotion, has found a new fighting home in the UFC after securing his release from the PFL this past week.
He won’t have to wait long to make his debut with Mix scheduled to clash with Mario Bautista at the upcoming UFC 315 card on June 7 from Newark, N.J.
The announcement was made during the UFC Vegas 106 broadcast on Saturday.
Mix comes to the UFC with a remarkable 20-1 record including 15 finishes along the way. During his run with Bellator, Mix took out fighters like Kyoji Horiguchi, Magomed Magomedov, Sergio Pettis and Raufeon Stots.
He’s currently riding a seven-fight win streak, which includes him capturing the Bellator bantamweight title and making a successful defense in his most recent outing, which actually came all the way back in May 2024.
Mix had complained about his long stretch of inactivity at PFL, and he eventually requested his release. The PFL ultimately complied after issuing a statement saying the promotion would not extend Mix’s contract and he was free to sign with another organization.
It obviously didn’t take long for Mix to get a deal done to come to the UFC and he immediately jump into a marquee fight against Bautista after his original opponent Marlon “Chito” Vera was forced off the card due to injury.
Bautista has won seven fights in a row including a split decision nod over Jose Aldo and he’ll look to give Mix a rude welcome to the octagon when they meet at UFC 316.
The upcoming UFC 316 card is headlined by a pair of title fights as bantamweight king Merab Dvalishvili faces Sean O’Malley in a rematch while Julianna Pena puts her bantamweight strap up for grabs against two-time Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison.
