Mike Tyson: Dana White is ‘going to be the best thing to happen to boxing’

Mike Tyson is very excited to hear that UFC CEO Dana White is getting involved in boxing.

White has contemplated the idea of Zuffa Boxing for years but said this past weekend he’s finally decided to commit to the sport. Tyson sees White’s involvement being a positive and believes he’ll play a big role in putting together fights the fans want to see.

“That’s going to be the best thing to happen to boxing just like UFC,” Tyson said on the “It Is What It Is” podcast. “If you’re in UFC and if anybody’s booing the fight, you’re not going to see that guy. His next fight is going to be in South Dakota somewhere. Only good fights.

“If you don’t have a good fight, you ain’t never going to see that guy again. Not like boxing. ‘This guy’s going to fight next month again? We don’t want to see that.’ If any fights stink, you’re not back in the UFC no more. You’re never going to see those guys again.”

Tyson (50-6-2) returns to the ring against Jake Paul (10-1) on Nov. 15 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. The 58-year-old boxing legend will lace up the gloves for the first time since an exhibition match with Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020.
