UFC 308 is down a heavyweight bout.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that the second meeting between former interim champ Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov is off of the Oct. 26 pay-per-view event due to an injury to Volkov. La Sueur first reported the news.

Volkov announced he recently suffered a knee injury.

Per the initial report, the bout is expected to be moved to UFC 310 in December. A person with knowledge of the situation tells MMA Fighting that there’s “no guarantee” of that at the moment.

The two first met in the main event of UFC Vegas 30 in June 2021, where Gane was victorious via unanimous decision. Since then, Gane is 3-2, which includes title losses to Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones. In his most recent outing, “Bon Gamin” stopped Serghei Spivac at UFC Paris in September 2023.

Volkov is 5-1 in the octagon since the loss to Gane, including four straight victories against Sergei Pavlovich, Tai Tuivasa, Alexandr Romanov, and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
