Benny “The Jet” Urquidez is widely regarded as one of the greatest kickboxers in history and one of the most influential figures in modern martial arts. Known for his lightning-fast speed, exceptional technique, and undefeated professional career, Urquidez helped transform kickboxing from a niche combat sport into an internationally recognized discipline. Beyond his achievements in the ring, he has built a successful career as a martial arts instructor, actor, fight choreographer, and ambassador for combat sports around the world.
Born on June 20, 1952, in Tarzana, Benny Urquidez grew up in a family deeply involved in martial arts. His father, Joe Urquidez, was a professional boxer, while his mother, Mildred Urquidez, was known for her wrestling skills. Surrounded by combat sports from an early age, Benny began training as a young child alongside his siblings. The family environment fostered discipline, toughness, and a lifelong commitment to martial arts excellence.
Urquidez’s early training was remarkably diverse.
