Doug Marcaida reveals all about his latest comic book launch

LINEAGE follows two estranged brothers attempting to escape their
mysterious past—until the emergence of a blood cult in their adopted
hometown forces them to confront it. Their only clue is an ancient blade
passed down by their father. The story comes from the mind of Doug
Marcaida, an edged-weapons specialist and Filipino martial artist.
The debut issue of LINEAGE exploded on Kickstarter, proving there’s a
massive audience hungry for grounded, intelligent action comics with
real stakes. Now, the campaign returns and aims to bring LINEAGE to life
in a completed trade paperback that fans won’t want to miss.

Doug Marcaida is a martial artist, edged weapons specialist, and knife designer born in the Philippines, based in Upstate New York. Doug’s interest in martial arts began at the age of 8, but he did not begin formally training in the arts until he was 16. At age 25 he discovered his love for Filipino Martial Arts, and the rest is history.
Doug Marcaida served in the US Air Force for 8 years, then became a Respiratory Therapist for 20 years, all while teaching and honing his Filipino martial skills. He developed his own style of Filipino Martial Arts, called Marcaida Kali and his core belief: It’s not about how many you hurt, it’s about how many you protect. This motto eventually evolved into Doug’s popular catchphrase “It will K.E.Al” ( Keep Everyone Alive).
