Dustin Poirier turned the page from his fighting career, and his biggest supporter is showing her appreciation.

Following Poirier’s loss to Max Holloway in his final fight at UFC 318 in July, the former interim lightweight champion’s wife Jolie posted a heartfelt message to her husband on Instagram to celebrate his accomplishments in, and out of the octagon.

“I always dreaded the thought of you walking away from the sport that has shaped you into the incredible man you are today but as the weeks go by I’m so thankful for it all,” Poirier wrote. “The good, the bad, the ups, the downs, the accomplishments, the setbacks but most importantly the lessons we’ve learned along the way. You truly have inspired us all to chase our dreams no matter what obstacles lie ahead.

“You created a beautiful life for us and we have even more to look forward to. Congrats on an amazing fighting career! You have earned every moment of this new chapter and are supported every step of the way with so much love & admiration. A true role model to so many especially our daughter & baby boy to come. Can’t wait to tell him what a legend dad is. Thank you for including me on this journey.”

“The Diamond” called it a career with a pro record of 30-10, 1 NC, including 22 wins inside the octagon. Poirier holds a pair of victories over Holloway — one of which being his interim title win at UFC 236 in April 2019 — along with two stoppage wins over former two-division champion Conor McGregor.

In his final fight, Poirier challenged Holloway for the BMF title in a full circle event in front of a hometown crowd in New Orleans.
