Grappling champion Tye Ruotolo is finally set to make his transition into MMA with a fight booked against 19-year-old prospect Adrian Lee at ONE Fight Night 35, which takes place at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Sept. 5.
ONE officials confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Wednesday.
Ruotolo and his brother Kade Ruotolo are both multi-time grappling champions with the siblings initially signing with ONE Championships to compete in both grappling and MMA contests. Kade currently sports a perfect 3-0 record in MMA and now Tye is set to make his MMA debut in September.
In his grappling career, Ruotolo has defeated numerous notable names including Garry Tonon, Marat Gafurov and Reinier de Ridder. Now he’ll look to put his full fighting skills to the test while getting a tough matchup right out of the gate.
Lee comes into the fight with an undefeated 3-0 resume after signing with ONE Championship and following in the footsteps of his famous siblings Christian Lee and Angela Lee, who both held titles while competing with ONE.
Lee has rattled off three straight wins — all by submission — since making his professional debut and now he’ll take on a championship level grappler in September.
