Flyweights take center stage at the UFC APEX this summer.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between Tatsuro Taira and Amir Albazi will headline UFC Vegas 108 — which takes place Aug. 2 at the UFC’s venue.

Taira returns to action following the first professional loss of his mixed martial arts career. The exciting 25-year-old flyweight lost a split decision to Brandon Royval in one of the best fights of 2024 in the main event of UFC Vegas 98 this past October. Prior to that, Taira won his previous six fights — including back-to-back stoppages of Carlos Hernandez and Alex Perez.

Albazi also looks to get back on track after losing his first UFC bout in a lopsided decision to Brandon Moreno in the main event of UFC Edmonton in November. The 31-year-old was returning from a long layoff following a split decision win against Kai Kara-France in June 2023.
